Job Description:
Assistant Hatchery Manager Reports to:
Hatchery Manager Position
Summary:
Assist Hatchery Manager in maintaining operations which includes receipt of eggs, traying eggs, incubation, hatching, vaccination, grading chicks, preparing chicks for shipment and loading of chicks.
Assist in the hatchery to producing the highest quality chicks at the highest hatch rate possible for the lowest cost, and that quality chicks are being produced.
Job Functions:
Assist in coordination hatchery activities including but not limited to receipt of eggs, traying eggs, incubation, hatching, vaccination, grading chicks, preparing chicks for shipment and loading.
Responsible for having adequate supplies on hand.
Ensures completion of quality assurance checks for:
chick quality, vaccination checks, and maintenance work.
Responsible for tracking chick box inventory and dollies.
Responsible for building and grounds maintenance.
Assist the Administrative Assistant in producing accurate weekly and period hatchery reports Embrex, fertility, hatch percentages, culls, etc.
Assist Egg Receiving for reporting and follow-up on issues with eggs received, buggies, and labeling from KSC Production Department and EDC.
Assists in completion of capital improvement projects.
Assists in monitoring costs for the plant cost portion of budget.
Assists in management of vaccine.
Maintain daily sanitation and general housekeeping and coordinate necessary maintenance of the building and equipment.
Ensure compliance with company and OSHA safety guidelines.
Follows environmental regulations.
Follows company policies including:
Employee Handbook, Human Resource, Biosecurity and Animal Welfare.
Responsible for accurate reporting associated with policies.
Training:
Manage hatchery shift as designated by manager.
Prepares employee schedules, approves vacation requests, and hires new employees as needed.
Manage hatchery when manager is absent for sickness & vacations.
Job Requirements Minimum of 5 years hatchery management experience, College degree preferred, minimum high school or equivalent.
Proficient in Excel, Microsoft office, Payroll System, Camera system, Performance Management software.
Good verbal & written skills.
Promote teamwork and a positive work environment.
Must live within 20 miles of the hatchery.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
